Lian Ryan is a mixed-media artist based in London investigating spatial relationships through the manipulation and abstraction of bodies in space. Lian’s work attempts to rationalise the capricious such as space and time and reflect upon absurdity and human behaviour, juxtaposing chaos and order. Currently, their work explores ritual and nature. With visual links to borders and biracial identity, Lian's work connects a tangible visual experience with an attempt to identify one’s presence as a body in a space emphasised by the patterns and systems shaped by nature and society.

Lian is currently studying Contemporary Art Practice at the Royal College of Art, London and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a Bachelor’s (Hons) in Painting in 2022. Lian has spent time at Phenomenon Art Studios and Gallery in Reykjavík and took part as an artist in resident with Mirror of Creation in Berlin, funded by Berliner Projektfonds Kulturelle Bildung.
